Hydroplaning Can Be Prevented

When a car hydroplanes, it can be a scary event. However, it is also preventable.

One of the primary reasons a car will hydroplane is because of a high rate of speed during a rainstorm. That’s because the water beneath the tires hasn't been disbursed fast enough. Therefore, be proactive during adverse weather conditions, especially with heavy downpours of rain, which is typically when hydroplaning occurs. To begin with, appropriately reduce your speed based on the road you're traveling. Secondly, don’t take unnecessary risks such as passing someone with an excessive amount of speed during a rainstorm. Hydroplaning occurs within seconds and even a straight path can cause hydroplaning.

Additionally, make sure that your tires are in the best possible condition. Good tires are paramount for preventing hydroplaning.
